Stop Waxing and Start Ceramic Coating!

Ceramic Coating St. Louis

Do you routinely wax your vehicle, or have it done?

If so I am sure you have realized that the benefits of that time consuming, and sometimes expensive process can be very short-lived.

Why is this and what are your alternative options?

Wax is old school. It shines well, but unfortunately does not give your vehicle the best protection possible.

Why is this?

Wax does not bond to your vehicles paint. It essentially sits on top of your paint, until it melts away or is degraded by the chemicals used at your local car wash. You can expect about 6-8 weeks of sub-par protection with a wax.

Paint sealants are better! They offer marginally better protection, for a little longer period of time. We still use paint sealants as they are easy to apply when doing a standard detail, and protect the paint for 3-6 months. How the vehicle is routinely cared for will ultimately determine the length of protection.

So what is the best option to protect your paint from bird droppings, sap, acid rain, environmental fallout, minor surface scratches and UV-caused oxidation?

Paint Coatings.

Paint Coatings are a fairly new technology that use very small particles, aka Nano particles, to mechanically bond to your vehicles paint by seeping into the pores of the paint. Nanotechnology allows paint coatings to last years, not months.

Benefit to you? Longer protection, less maintenance.

In addition to Nanotechnology, the paint coatings we use are infused with a compound called Silica Dioxide, or SiO2. Silica Dioxide is commonly known as "liquid glass". This liquid glass layer, when applied to your paint, cures to a hardness level of 9H. This gives your vehicle a very high resistance to scratches, especially those scratches caused by improper vehicle washing procedures.

Furthermore, Silica is extremely hydrophobic! This means water will bead off of your paint like Rain-X makes water bead off of your windshield! Your vehicle will stay cleaner longer as a result.

In a nutshell, paint coatings are harder, protect better, last longer, shine better and are much easier to maintain than other paint protectants like waxes and sealants.

The catch?

Well the catch is they should be professionally installed. The magic is in the prep of the vehicles paint surface. It typically takes us 3-5 hours just to properly prep your paint for these coatings. The paint should be completely polished, clay-bared and decontaminated before the coating can be applied and bond properly. Check out the before and after close-up pictures on this 2012 Sonata to see what paint looks like in direct light before and after polishing.
